Do north Korean and south Korean want to reunify together as one nation someday like China and Taiwan do?

Do north Korean and south Korean want to reunify together as one nation someday like China and Taiwan do?
here in US i heard north Korean students and south Korean students don't really talk to each other. but they ARE the same people. it's kind of sad that people alienate each other just because of different government system even though they are both the same flesh and blood.

Your understand is a bit flawed. China wants to take over Taiwan, Taiwan wants to continue to be a free county not under the rule of communist China. It is not to be reunified, China does not recognize Taiwan as an independent country.
2 :
China wants to take control of taiwan, but neither does Taiwan or the US want taiwan to be controlled by China, so no, china and taiwan kind of hate each other. As for NK and SK, both Governments always spout how much they want to reunify in order to gain votes and sympathy, but truth be told, reunifying SK and NK would be horrible for the economy of SK, US and china, NK has nothing to lose, except power...There will be no reunification unless NK completely collapses and is taken over by SK or china.
3 :
China and US is using NK/SK, respectively, as a leverage to keep each other in check, there's a reason NK runs to China all the time for help when something comes up and they're the ones who meet up with US to calm the situation down. When Yunpyung do was bombed recently, why did China suddenly get involved in it? All the troops and nukes they might have is nothing but a show-off to scare normal citizens, NK knows they'd blow up to pieces in seconds if they were to use that to start a war or anything... this isn't 1950s when NK were better off than SK (yeah it was true). Unless China goes down like the Soviets did when Germany was split (there's a chance since they're communist regime, but they have WAY too many people for this to actually happen, lol) or US does (lolx2), or NK's government crumbles themselves (unlikely since China will probably help them), I don't think reunification is possible anytime soon.
4 :
It would be more like East and West Germany, in that the country was divided at the end of world war 2. Yes there are many families that have been separated and would like to be together again. The problem is that China does not want the U.S. military near its border or having influence in all of Korea. The country may reunite, but probably not for many years.

overseas transfer student?
hi there, i was wondering if someone could help me with some questions about transfer students from overseas. My cousin is in middle school in Taiwan and he wants to transfer to America for educational purposes. I was wondering if there is any site out there that would give me the estimated cost and information about how to sign him up for transfering to U.S.A? But if anyone knows any information about overseas transfer and such please give me your advice! your thoughts are appreciated! I really just want to know the estimated cost for an overseas transfer student from Taiwan. He has family over here so the cost of living would be excluded and also, how would you go about signing for such programs?

you just get married like any other couple, then she applies for citizenship
2 :
The process of getting married is the same, regardless where she was from. The only difference would be for her to bring in her passport as formal ID, at the county office. But it's best you first visit your girlfriend's family in Taiwan. And during a second visit, with everyone's consents, you ask for permission of getting married. After you receive the marriage certificate, you petition and sponsor for her green card. Go to USCIS web site to get the detail.

Keychain from Taiwan?

Keychain from Taiwan?
My friend, an exchange student from Taiwan, gave me a keychain from her country today. It looks like some type of lion holding a sword in it's mouth. It has a giant yellow beard and black eyebrows with yellow spots on them. There is a yin yang on it's forehead. On the back there is another yin yang with some symbols around it. Does anybody know what this thing is? Here is the front: http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv121/Thumdarr/DSC02967.jpg Here's the back: http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv121/Thumdarr/DSC02968.jpg

Chinese lions are usually used for guardian spirits, or good luck. So it could be either a good luck charm that she bought before coming to give out as a gift, or it could be just a random charm that she liked or thought was good to represent Taiwan. >Edit< I am going to ask some of my friends what they significance of this particular lion is, because as I have learned there are different meanings to the different styles. Until then the characters on it mean Front: 王 = wáng -> king; monarch Back: 安 = ān -> peaceful; at ease; undisturbed; tranquil; calm 永 = yǒng -> everlasting; forever 康 = kāng -> well-being; health 保 = bǎo -> protect; defend In my opinion it seems to be a guardian charm for someone who is traveling, but I am not going to say that is what this one. Just don't read too much in to the gift its self Taiwanese love to give gifts to people who help them, especially exchange students. I know this from experience working with my universities Intensive English Program, and meeting several large groups of Taiwanese students.

I'm guessing that what you have is a "Foo Dog"; it's half lion and half dragon. They are refered to as "Shi" (pronounced "shuhr") in Chinese, and are intended to ward off evil spirits. http://www.tattoosymbol.com/gallery/foo-dog-tattoo.html http://www.bugei.com/product_1180_detailed.htm They are associated with swords, but I haven't yet seen one depicted with a sword in its mouth. Now... Go! And, get your snowglobe repaired quickly. hahaha

Why does the P.R. of China claim Taiwan to be part of there Empire?

Why does the P.R. of China claim Taiwan to be part of there Empire?
I have a Chinese female student in my class, shes nasty to the Taiwanese student. The Chiense student claims Taiwan is not independent, what a silly girl. She says that the CCP defeated the KMT. If the KMT were really defeated they would not had been able to make it to Taiwan. She says that the KMT government shouldn't really there, but the KMT where in control of China before the CPP. How can I show her that the CCP are the ones who illegally took over the mainland or should I just sent her to the school councillor recommending psychiatric treatment.

China are trying to rule the world
2 :
I remember how in Asian Studies, the teacher predicted that Taiwan would be invaded before the Olympic games. Obviously because the government regime wants more power.
3 :
The fact that Taiwan has always been `China`´s territory is undeniable, but it´s debatable on the `form of China` it should be to incorporate Taiwan with the Mainland. Many Chinese in the Mainland prefer KMT rule over CCP but seems quite impossible to bring that to reality in anytime soon.

From your description, I surmise that the young lady has "some issues" concerning her homeland. Young minds are easily swayed by the propaganda generated by powerful authoritarian regimes such as that found in China. It may take years of intense therapy for her to come to grips with having been programmed to dominate and abuse the rights of others, and the discovery that reality doesn't match her belief system. She may just end up in a mental ward for life, or in jail as an anti-social psychopath.
5 :
The PRC claims Taiwan because their government is ignorant and self-centered. As for your student... She's just another victim of CPC propaganda. Poor thing. @zerious - Whether or not Taiwan has "always been China's territory" is not only deniable, such a claim is contrary to well-established facts. Perhaps you've forgotten that the Japanese held Taiwan for 50 years, and the aboriginals owned it for about 5,000 years before the Chinese showed up. Thanks for your support of the ROC.
6 :
You should educate her like the way Mao Ze Dung used. A re-education camp in a discrete place with all the educational equipments you need, such as electric wires connected to a car battery, a hanging rope with a large basin underneath filled with water and live piranhas inside, some hot coals and iron brand, leather whips, a large barefoot walkway filled with salt and broken glasses. Student like her will need the best education, Mao Ze Dung proved that this will work, so you must apply the same method and principles as Mao did.
