How difficult is it for foreign student (Taiwan) to extend visa from language school to college (all in US)?

How difficult is it for foreign student (Taiwan) to extend visa from language school to college (all in US)?
My girlfriend will come here from Taiwan in July to study at language school in San Francisco and then (hopefully) extend her student visa to study at City College of SF. Will she have to return to Taiwan to do this?

Talk to the advisors in the center for international students at the two schools you are talking about. They will explain how to do this.

It's not that difficult. Discuss the issue with the school's advisors and they will help you. As long as the school can help her get the I-20, there shouldn't be any problem getting the student visa.

How can I get a Student Visa to Canada From Taiwan ?

How can I get a Student Visa to Canada From Taiwan ?
Hello! I'm an overseas foreign worker from Philippines, I would like to apply from Taiwan for Canada. How long does it take to process for a student visa? What requirements do I need to settle? How about applying for other visas such as work and immigrant, which one is more easy and fast? Thanks for your suggestions or comments you could share to me.

"easy and fast". Two words immigration don't like to hear. Another red flag for them will be that you aren't applying from your own country.
2 :
You need to get a work visa first before you can even come here. Unless you are a student you cannot apply for a student visa. If you are a student you'll have to show a letter of acceptance to a Canadian university first. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp

You need to apply to a Canadian college or university and be accepted before you can get a student visa. Once you are accepted the visa will be straight forward. However, you will pay very high tuition and may not work off campus. Otherwise, the work visa application information and forms are here:

Is anyone from Taiwan or have you hosted a student from Taiwan?

Is anyone from Taiwan or have you hosted a student from Taiwan?
My husband and I will be hosting a 20 year old male student from Taiwan. The host coordinator told us that there are many things about American life that is different then life in Taiwan. Such as eating, sleeping, going to the bathroom, and social aspects. What are some of these things?

hmmm... well it IS VERY different well...asians dont quite prefer (most of them) dairy products like milk and cheese. they like rice/noodles and they tend to go in their little groups of taiwiwanese freinds... haha sleeping i guess its the same? :) FREE POINTS please help me math!!! v http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AuVOu_fEa2wmuOOF.qBaZ1Psy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080619145933AAhChaX

Why didn't you ask the "social coordinator"? She should have told you what to expect. I have friends in Taiwan, and I have visited them, and they have visited me, and I didn't have any real culture shock. Maybe it is more of a generational thing. I noticed in some places, there is a sign that one cannot put toilet paper in the toilet (because it clogs the pipes). There is a plastic bucket by the toilet for paper that you have just used to wipe yourself. But that was only in cheap, old places.

why you go to Thailand to apply for Taiwan student visa? I am lost here.

I also applied my student visa in Bangkok and showed a bank statement with more then 100000 NT on it. Heard from a friend that they refused to give a visa because his bank statement just showed about 70000NT. So if you want to be sure a 100000NT is better. By the way do you know that the visa from Bangkok is a non extenable one. If you want to stay longer than 2 months you have to go to the ministry of foreign affairs to change it into an extenable one. good luck
