What's the best way for a college student to travel to Asia for the summer?
I would like to visit either India, China, Japan, S Korea, or Taiwan... but I dont know if I should book through an agency, or just buy the flight ticket and hotel by myself and figure it out once I get there...

Check out the low cost airlines. They are very cheap and always have promo seats. GO on backpackers and meet different people and experience their culture as well as their traditions.

Cheapest way into mainland China is via Taiwan?

Cheapest way into mainland China is via Taiwan?
I've been looking at the flight costs and via Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, etc., Taiwan is the cheapest ($1032 vs. ~$1200 straight to Beijing)-- I'm on a student budget so trying to do this cheaply. But due to the tense relationships between the two, can a tourist such as me go to mainland China via Taiwan?

As long as you don't pass through Customs in Taiwan, I honestly doubt you'd have any problems at all.

In the USA, you will get: drunk, laid, stoned, high, boned, gang banged, lynched, hung etc, HAVE FUN
2 :
You don't say where you are from or where in the US you will be staying. Keep an open mind. Try looking online for any info about the area and school you will be attending. That may give you some idea.Good luck.
3 :
probably get shot at, drunk, get a child or 3, smoke, be kidnapped, etc
4 :
A bit more information is needed. Are you going on an exchange program where you will stay with a host family for a year? Or are you attending boarding school.
